#MakeIYarn
We (Christians) have really trivialized the power of the
media and its effect particularly on the younger generation. When Christians
who have the means to sponsor media platforms that will present safe and
wholesome contents to our young people are leaving the media business for the
other folks, what do you expect to happen? Use it to promote the kingdom of
God? My brother, No.
They will have to make money from their investments and that amounts putting up anything to achieve their set objective. How many church media platforms do you know that have programmes tailored to meet the form and needs of today’s youth. Please I will like to know any if you know one. The sums of the church media brands that we are have today are only promoting denomination. (Like their Pastors preaching from morning till night and showing miracles and some their church choir singing praise and worship every now and then).
Why are we not going to engage ourselves with MTV, BET,
Entertainment TV, HipTV, Soundcity, Nigezie, Trace TV, and the rest of them?
Are you shocked I know them? Please don’t be because I make
bold to say I watch their contents once in a while prolly because there is no
alternative and of course as someone who is media savvy.
Borrowing the title of Chude Jideonwo’s book, am tempted to
ask myself and other likeminded young people poised to make a difference in the
media profession if we are the turning point generation for God’s kingdom?
P:S My thoughts hence on the #MakeIYarn series on facebook
& twitter from 2016 will bother on
issues that will shape young minds on the power of the media and how it is a
potent tool for God’s kingdom and the society.
It is going to get better. Blessings
