Are We The TakeOver Generation? - #iamOsazeIsesele || @sazzieml

23:03:00
First, let me start by bringing to your contemplation, the popular fact that insanity is doing the same thing over and over again with same approach expecting a change. You will never get a better result. My writing this little piece is precipitated on my passion to see a new breed of leaders take up the responsibility of creating a better future and society.

The young people of this generation have every right to throw stones at the government and leaders of this nation for not doing the right things to arrive us at our desired haven as individuals and as a people but my concern is how long are we going to be playing the blame game. When are we going to move beyond reprimanding government officials on social media platforms and get to a point where we proffer measures to increase our productivity collectively?

I once heard from the lips of a wise man that the future belongs to those who decide to make a change and not those who wait.

My simple question for every young person is “Are we the takeover generation”? The takeover generation is simply a set of people that will replace the current generation right? So if we are said to be the takeover generation. The follow up questions would be “How sure are we not to repeat the mistakes and blunders of our predecessors”? And “How better can we make things become”?

I have seen a lot of young people engage in several banters requesting that the “old cargos” give way for “fresh bloods”. Of course that can be supported by the popular clichés that the young people are the leaders of tomorrow and the future belongs to us. But would you be better or different if you step in?

My submission therefore, we shouldn’t wait for a time in Nigeria were very young people can assume power before you express change. It is really not necessary. In the respective spheres where we find ourselves as young people, we can initiate and advocate change in our nation. If we are the takeover generation, what are we doing now to ensure that we do not reinvent the wheel? That should be the concern of today’s youth. We ought to be equipping and preparing ourselves for the future.

I am so passionate about seeing young people who will put in their natural abilities into refining and use for societal transformation as a result eliciting human and national development but this cannot be realizable when we continue to blame government, castigate our spiritual and communal leaders, remain negligent to the subject of growth and development in our nation, engage in activities that have no bearing with bettering our lives.

If we must take over the steering, make a difference and change the status quo then we must prepare adequately to be the takeover generation our world seeks.

Looking at the caliber of young people we have today in society. I am asking again “Are we the takeover generation?

 As I leave you to ponder on the question, let me raise 5 (five) issues that questions our eligibility in enlisting as a part of the takeover generation.

1    Are you people oriented?
Based on observations, one of the reasons why we are still were we are as a people is hinged on the fact that a bulk of our leaders are not people oriented. Governments have failed to see that the people are the stakeholders who will be greatly affected by their actions whether positive or negative, favorable or unfavorable. This is why they take actions without considering how it impacts the people. This is a dastard plague that cuts across every type of leadership in this part of the world. Any dream that is about your benefit alone has no future. If we are the takeover generation then people must come first in our agenda. In your chosen profession or line of trade, how do you intend to improve the quality of lives in society? It’s a pointer that you are part of the takeover generation.

2.  Do you know where you belong?
You can’t be everywhere. To be a part of this formidable force of change agents and world changers, you need to have a niche. Young people who have no focus and desires to run any kind of trending business he or she considers to be booming at every time, has no place in the takeover flight. You need to look for your habitat, stay there and grow in it. You cannot be singing today, comedy tomorrow and wants to be an entrepreneur in the future.

3.  Are you preparing?
Preparation is important in bringing you to a place of relevance and significance. It is a popular maxim that when preparation meets opportunity, success emerges. A lot of young people are just wasting time and they are not making any form of preparation to achieve what they desire to become. If you are not prepared, then you have no place in the takeover generation. If you are interested in governance and you are not preparing to strategize and make things better for the people you are going to govern, you are just going to be another looter waiting to feed on your prey like a hungry lion. Great achievers understand the place of relentless preparation to their body, mind, emotions and key skills. The quality of your preparation determines the strength of your performance in the takeover era.

4.   Do you have mentors?
Some of our leaders and people we look up to as young people may have failed us but there are still notable people who can pride themselves to be men and women of honour that can be followed without misleading their followers. In every space and domain in society, there are kings and rulers. By this, I mean, people who have excelled and have achieved great feats in that field. We must learn to follow such people and model after their successes and improve on their antecedents if we must takeover. Mentors are one of the most valuable resources young people must utilize dearly to achieve optimum success for our dreams.

5.    Are you taking actions?
It’s time to quit blaming government and public institutions but time for young people to create and raise structures in our own little way to propagate change. We have many young people who are knowledgeable but only a few are taking actions. We are in a time where the only reason one can claim ignorance is to ignore the pieces of information they receive every day. But it’s that moment we go beyond housing information to taking actions for a better society.

We must be the change we want to see. We can be all we want to be regardless of how difficult the times may seem. There is hope for a better tomorrow if the takeover generation gets it right. I pray God will help us get it right. See you at the top.

You shouldn't have friends that are interested more in the friendship than your advancement.

Your true friends are those people that will bluntly tell you the truth to ensure you make advancement in life not those who will allow you remain deficient so as not to jeopardize the friendship.

I have had great friends who lashed me out of mediocrity. It may have not have sounded palatable or nice for me to hear but I have had friends who told me plainly that you may be skillful and talented but if you keep spending money anyhow whenever you had a little pay cheque then you will end up financially miserable.

A popular highlife musician from my place by name Joseph Osayomore once said in his music “Ororo No dey fade” and “Oba No dey go transfer”.

I beg to disagree please. Kingship is rotational and what is successful today if not maintained will collapse tomorrow. In 2016, don’t feel you have it when you no longer possess it. Don’t feel you are still on top when you are tilting towards the base of the ladder.

#MakeIYarn: Thoughts On Christians Participation In Use of Media - #iamOsazeIsesele @SazzieML

#MakeIYarn

We (Christians) have really trivialized the power of the media and its effect particularly on the younger generation. When Christians who have the means to sponsor media platforms that will present safe and wholesome contents to our young people are leaving the media business for the other folks, what do you expect to happen? Use it to promote the kingdom of God? My brother, No.

I am not saying that New Year resolutions aren’t wonderful but they are better off when we keep to them, achieve them and decide to change. I pray we will this time around. Having said that, here are 5 things I need you to do this year as it’s laid in my heart.

A LETTER TO MY SINGLE FRIENDS - #iamSazzieIsesele || @SazzieML

06:08:00

It was a very hard decision to make. It took me at least four years to finally make this decision that seemed so impossible. Yes! I have made the decision and I have no regrets whatsoever. I know you are wondering what this decision could be. Just follow me as we take it slowly. I am writing this to myself and every other young man or woman who is still single out there as a way of encouraging you and I do hope you pick something out of my thoughts.

I know you have struggled over this subject severally for a very long time now and the struggle may apparently be in motion. What you actually want is indeed a good thing but I need you to understand that whatever is worth doing should be done rightly.

Irrespective of who you are, your age or where you come from, the focus on finding your significant other is an all time discourse for everyone. Like one rightly said it is the most important career decision anyone will ever make in life and as such I believe it should be done properly.
